Why Can’t Catholics Just Be Nice?

The Telegraph – Popes Brother Admits Slapping Choirboys

This is not in the least bit surprising. I think I’m now at the point where the Catholic church can do whatever they want and I will not be surprised.

It makes no difference to me that this guy is now saying he is sorry. The fact he thought he could throw his weight around just because he was in charge goes against the very essence of what they tell us Christianity is about. This guy worked in a place where yet more abuse allegations have surfaced and quite frankly I don’t believe he knew nothing about it.

The Catholic church is one of the world’s biggest evils.

  1. David says:

So it doesn’t matter to you that this happened in the days when corporal punishment was used in every school?
The problem is, as you stated, that you just don’t care that people are sorry for what they do sometimes. Not that being sorry makes it right, but that two wrongs don’t make 1 right. Usually, when people are in charge, they have authority. In a case where a child in my charge is out of line, you’re damn right I’ll do what’s necessary to put him in place. If he listens to soft words, fine, if all he listens to is a swat, it’s really his choice.
The Catholic Church has done more for civilization than you could ever know with your tiny brain. Not saying that men didn’t do wrongs, and that they shouldn’t be punished for it, but unless you’re the victim, in which case you deserve what’s due you, the greater good the Church does outweighs the bad.

  2. “…where a child in my charge is out of line, you’re damn right I’ll do what’s necessary to put him in place. If he listens to soft words, fine, if all he listens to is a swat, it’s really his choice”

It’s quite clear people like you should not be near children.

Please enlighten me as to all these wonderful things the Catholic church have done?

  3. David says:

The legal system, the university system, hospitals, care for the elderly, orphans, preservation of ancient writings, just for starters. Also, the largest charitable organization in the world.

It’s quite clear to me that you don’t know what you’re talking about.

    • If you think we owe the Catholic Church thanks for all those things then it is you who doesn’t know what you’re talking about. Your bullshit is falling on deaf ears here. Your attitude towards children, as proven by your initial comment, renders everything else you have to say of no value. Take your praise for the Catholic Church elsewhere.

      • David says:

So, you think you’d rather have the alternative? The alternative to the legal system was where you’re rank in society proved your innocence, or else, they would stick a hot iron in your hand and check out the wound three days later to determine guilt or innocence. Or maybe you’d rather be hogtied, and thrown into a lake. If you float, you’re guilty, if you sink you’re innocent. Sure that’s an improvement.
But back to the subject, what did I say that’s so offensive? That I’d protect a child in any way I had to? That’s really very terrible. Just shows that you don’t have a better idea.

      • From the tone of your first comment you indicated your level of intellect. I do not think you are capable of logic so any further comments you write will simply be rants.
